American Horticultural Society International Commission for the Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) Records, 1954-1977 : Guide

The collection includes the correspondences of members of the International Commission for the Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants (ICNCP). The ICNCP drafted a nomenclature code in October of 1952 and members of this commission continued to discuss improvements to the code in the coming years. The goal of the ICNCP was to establish uniformity for the naming of cultivars. The bulk of the collection contains correspondences and documents that pertain to the registration of national and international cultivar names. These issues were discussed at the annual meeting of the International Horticultural Congress. A bulk of the materials is correspondences. Other materials include: memorandums, reports, research materials, meeting minutes, brochures and financial records.
